In our quest to make Form2Content as flexible as possible we have introduced a F2C Custom Plugin system. The F2C custom plugin system allows 3rd party developers to extend the function of Form2Content by creating functions based on F2C events and data, collected at (front-end) article submission level.

Why a F2C custom plugin system?

There have been many requests for using the Form2Content front-end mechanism to create OTHER TYPES of content, 'fill' 3rd party components or CUSTOM events to data entered. This kind of data mapping can become complex, especially since we have no influence on the development of other extensions. Keeping up a F2C release cycle, backwards compatibility etc. with all this kind of custom work isn't realistic.

On the other hand we do appreciate that there is a need for FLEXIBILITY and CUSTOM FUNCTIONALITY. We believe that by providing the TOOLSET and documentation, developers can now become as creative as they like.

How does it work in a nutshell?

You can build a F2C submission form to gather data and than develop a plugin to do whatever you like with the data. The mechanism is no longer limited to creating Joomla articles! The field types and front-end submission features of F2C can still be used. Of course it's also possible to create Joomla articles the way Form2Content works now and develop a F2C custom plugin to ALSO do custom functionality like save images in another location.

Can I build a plugin?

YES you can, that is if you are a (Joomla php) programmer. Please find our technical DOCUMENTATION here.
