Form2Content for Joomla 2.5, what’s going to happen?

We are very pleased to be able to conclude that first tests have indicated very few issues with Form2Content and Joomla 2.5. This means that F2C for J2.5 will be an upgrade of the J1.7 version and is free for all those with a F2C Joomla 1.7 license. Naturally we will try to release as soon as possible now that the Joomla 2.5 has been released. Please keep track of our changelog for further information and release notes.

We are also working on an upgrade component for J1.5 to J1.7/J2.5. This will work very similar to JUpgrade. More info soon.

Joomla 1.7, Form2Content & SEF URLs

Joomla (SEF) URLs have changed in version 1.7. For menu items to be active and SEF to work it is required to have an item ID in the URL. But how do you know the item ID of a NEW article to which there is no menu link?

You don't ... so we have made a Joomla plugin which will generate the correct URL when the link is required. Please read this article on how to use the plugin and download it here for free.

Joomla & F2C versioning overview

With Joomla keeping a new (and rapid) release cycle it is understandable that things become a bit blurry. Especially if extension developers also need to update documentation and release (different) versions at an ever increasing rate.

So let us clear things up! Joomla 1.6 no longer exists or should exist. So we are systematically updating everything to Joomla 1.7. All Form2Content extensions which worked on Joomla 1.6 will work on Joomla 1.7 and YES, you can use our F2C upgrade installers!

Form2Content version overview as of today (23-08-2011):

Joomla 1.5 - F2C Lite 1.3.1
Joomla 1.5 - F2C Pro 2.11.0

Joomla 1.7 - F2C Lite 3.1.1
Joomla 1.7 - F2C Pro 4.2.0

So for now, at least untill january 2012 I believe we are in the clear with versioning .... back to updating the documentation!

F2C submit mailer plugin Joomal 1.7 compatible

The F2C submit mailer plugin is now available for Joomla 1.6/1.7. It has been improved adding several extra parameters incuding group mailing and extra values in the email title.

Please note. We will need to upgrade F2C Lite and Pro in order for the NEW Article email alert to function properly. At the moment the plugin will show the UPDATED Article email message.

Form2Content Pro 2.11 (Joomla 1.5) upgrade

With the release of F2C for Joomla 1.7 we try to keep all features across J1.5 and 1.7 the same. This upgrade release had added some new Smarty features including a modifier which checks if a value is present in a field and an array output for the multi-select list. Both have some great use although it does require a little more intimate understanding. Some smarty code examples can be found here!

Please read the full F2C Pro changelog for resolved bugs and changes.

Weather here continues to be very wet so I guess I will continue with F2C testing, support and answering a couple of forum posts!
14-08-2011 15:41:39

Form2Content for Joomla 1.7

It seems almost yesterday that we released F2C for Joomla 1.6 and already the first alpha release of Joomla 1.7 is out. Our first testing has indicated that there are no problems with our F2C 1.6 versions in Joomla 1.7! Naturally there is still much checking to do as Joomla 1.7 comes with a beta release where no more core changes will take place.

Any F2C License for Joomla 1.6 will be upgradable to Joomla 1.7 version without any cost.

We will continue to develop F2C Lite (3.x) and F2C Pro (4.x) for Joomla 1.7. As long as Joomla 1.5 is supported we will also add any new features to F2C Pro (2.x).

14-06-2011 09:20:37

New F2C Lite & Pro release!

Form2Content Lite & Pro are up and running on both Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.6. All versions have now been upgraded to resolve some issues. We have also added field CAPTION and field DESCRIPTION template parameters by popular demand (read documentation here).
This means you can now display the submission form captions (and descriptions) in your Joomla articles. In F2C Pro for Joomla 1.6 where articles have language settings, this is even language dependent.

Please read the F2C Lite changelog and F2C Pro changelog for more information and links to relevant documentation. As usual you can re-download to get the latest version!
14-06-2011 08:54:11
